Yes, hotels and lodging are on Amelia Robotics' list of eligible industries, though Amelia has not published task examples for them. Tasks are agreed on your setup call. Typical pay is $500 to $2,000 a month per recording employee at 12.5 to 50 approved hours a week, and earnings vary. The hotel is paid monthly and sets staff shares.
- Amelia lists hotels and lodging as eligible but publishes no hotel task list, so confirm tasks on the setup call.
- Guest privacy is the main rule: never record in occupied rooms or guest areas.
- Robot data buyers name hotels directly as a target environment.
Can my hotel get paid to record housekeeping work?
Yes. Amelia Robotics lists hotels and lodging among the industries eligible for its business program. Staff wear a phone on a head mount and record agreed tasks, hands in frame, and Amelia pays the hotel once a month for approved recordings. Typical pay is $500 to $2,000 a month per recording employee, assuming 12.5 to 50 approved hours a week. Earnings vary, and your agreement decides actual pay.

Which hotel tasks might count?
For example, tasks agreed on your setup call such as these. None of them is on Amelia's published list, so treat them as questions to ask:
- Room turnover in vacant rooms: stripping and making beds, bathroom cleaning, restocking amenities.
- Laundry: sorting, loading, folding and stacking linens and towels.
- Housekeeping cart restocking and storeroom work.
- Public-area cleaning outside guest hours, such as lobbies and fitness rooms when closed.
- Maintenance tasks: fixture swaps, filter changes, small repairs in vacant rooms.

What could your crew earn?
Move the sliders to match your crew.
- Per worker
- $400
- You keep
- $4,800
- Per year
- $115,200
Illustrative, at about $10 per approved hour. Typical pay is $500 to $2,000 a month per recording employee; earnings vary and your agreement decides actual pay.
How much could a hotel earn from recordings?
Illustrative maths at the typical rate of $10 per approved hour: people x approved hours a week x 4. Housekeepers spend most of a shift hands-on, so 20 to 25 approved hours a week is a reasonable planning range if tasks are agreed.
Amelia's split example is 50% worker, 10% lead and 40% business. Housekeeping supervisors fit the lead role, and you can set a different split for laundry, housekeeping and maintenance.
| Example crew | People recording | Approved hours a week each | Illustrative monthly payment | Business keeps (40% example) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small inn or motel | 5 | 15 | $3,000 | $1,200 |
| Select-service hotel | 15 | 20 | $12,000 | $4,800 |
| Full-service hotel or resort | 35 | 25 | $35,000 | $14,000 |
How do you protect guest privacy when staff record?
Guests expect privacy in their rooms, so the rule is simple: record only in vacant rooms after checkout and before the next arrival, never in occupied rooms, and never with a guest present. Belongings left behind, documents and screens stay out of frame. In public areas, record when they are closed or empty.
For staff, get written agreement from everyone who records, in a language they read. Some states also set rules for watching staff electronically. Connecticut, for example, requires prior written notice to employees and counts cameras as electronic monitoring (Conn. Gen. Stat. sec. 31-48d). About 11 states, including California, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Washington, require everyone in a conversation to agree before it is recorded (Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press). If you operate under a brand or management agreement, check whether it limits recording on property.
- No recording in occupied rooms, ever.
- Stop if a guest enters the room or corridor area being filmed.
- Keep room numbers, guest names and key cards out of frame.

Why do robotics companies want hotel footage?
Hotels are a named target. Instawork built its wearable camera system for commercial settings including kitchens, warehouses, hotels and light manufacturing (Instawork). Making a bed and folding linen involve soft materials and many steps. The International Federation of Robotics research chair told CNN that humanoid success on folding T-shirts is still around 70 to 80%, too low for commercial use.
CNN reports that adding more than 20,000 hours of first-person video to robot training improved success on tasks such as rolling T-shirts by more than half, according to Nvidia (CNN). Hotel housekeeping produces exactly that kind of footage at professional speed.

How does a hotel get started?
Apply with four questions and say you are a hotel. The setup call agrees which tasks qualify and the recording requirements. After activation you invite staff. Prepare:
- Headcount for housekeeping, laundry and maintenance, with hands-on hours per week.
- The tasks you want to propose and your vacant-room rule.
- Phones and head mounts. Amelia's setup guidance says the business buys one mount per person.
- Brand or management agreement checks, and a split plan per department.

Common questions
Can a hotel get paid to record housekeepers for AI training?
Amelia Robotics lists hotels and lodging as eligible, with tasks agreed on a setup call. Typical pay is $500 to $2,000 a month per recording employee; earnings vary.
Will guests be on camera?
They should not be. Record only in vacant rooms and closed public areas, and stop if a guest appears.
Is it legal to record hotel staff at work?
Usually with notice and agreement, but state rules differ. Some states require prior written notice of electronic monitoring. Check with a lawyer.
Do my housekeepers have to agree?
Yes. Get written agreement in a language they read; staff start each recording themselves.
How much can a 10-person housekeeping team earn?
At the typical rate of $10 per approved hour, 10 people at 20 approved hours a week is $8,000 a month. Illustrative only.
Will robots replace housekeepers?
The footage helps robots learn tasks like bed-making, so be honest with staff. Soft materials and varied rooms remain hard problems for robots.
