YOUR WORKING NOTE

Start with one workflow.

Your written notes stay in this page while you work. Save a copy before leaving or reloading; there is no saved draft. Use broad descriptions and keep names, private links and actual records out of the note.

If you allow analytics, Origin can measure tool actions and the record category you choose. Your written notes are not sent to Origin.

01 Choose a record category
02 Describe what remains

Everything here is optional. “Not checked yet” is a useful starting point.

Describe a recurring piece of work your team performs.

Name record categories and known gaps, without copying any records.

For example: which team can explain the missing links or how these records were created?

Choose a category to create a note. No email or company name is needed.

FIND THE RIGHT CONTEXT

Explore the records
behind the note.

Each guide explains the category with a fictional example and specific questions to review.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Questions about the tool.

What is a company record map?

A company record map describes one workflow, the records retained around it, and the connections or gaps between a problem, a decision and an outcome. It helps a team prepare for a discussion without copying the underlying records.

Does this tool assess whether our data can be licensed?

No. It organizes your description and suggests questions to review. It does not assess demand, rights, value or eligibility. Those questions require separate evaluation of a proposed scope and use.

Where do my entries go?

The builder keeps written notes in this page’s memory and does not send them to Origin or save them in browser storage. Save a copy before leaving or reloading; there is no saved draft to restore. You can choose to download a text file or copy the note. If you allow site analytics, broad tool-use actions and the selected record category can be measured; your written entries are excluded.

Can we use it before we know how much history remains?

Yes. Leave the history and connections as “Not checked yet” and bring the resulting prompts to the responsible team. Missing information is a question to investigate, not a negative assessment.
